Nothing is more distracting when you feel a small chip in one of your teeth. To fix that tooth, recontouring is a simple, speedy procedure to reshape your tooth. Cloverleaf Dental Center wants to help you fix any minor blemishes so you can have the best dental care.
It can be difficult to determine which option is best for you so be sure to visit your dentist concerning either a small chip in the tooth, or pits/bulges in the tooth’s enamel. Irregular tooth shape caused by uneven teeth, or the length of your canines may be one of the things you want fixed, and these can be mended to your specifications.
Veneers or bonding are needed if the damage is more than recontouring can fix. Bonding attaches material to the tooth and veneers redesign the front teeth. These are themselves a form of recontouring the teeth to fix a substantial fracture.
Your dental care needs to first be examined by your dentist, determining what exact solution is needed for what problem. An x-ray finds the exact size and location of the fracture as well as comparing it to the tooth’s pulp containing the nerves and blood vessels. If the enamel is too thin or the pulp lies too close to the surface, a veneer or bonding will be used instead.
Your dentist can fix a small chip, pits or bulges by smoothing or leveling out the rough edge. In the procedure, a sanding disc or fine diamond bur are handled to remove a part of the tooth enamel. With flaws in-between the teeth, a strip of sandpaper is used to level out the tooth, and a final polish perfects the smooth tooth.
