Keep Your Toothbrush and Smile Clean by Using Our Tips

Posted .

Dr. Sheila Poetti and our dental team care about you and your smile, which is why we encourage you to clean your teeth and gums regularly with a functional and clean toothbrush. Unfortunately, your toothbrush harbors many germs, so maintaining a healthy brush might be tricky. However, with our help, it’s definitely possible.

Tip No. 1: Wash your hands before you brush your teeth. This is recommended because using your toothbrush with clean hands helps prevent germs from jumping from your hands to your toothbrush. So, it’s best to wash your hands with soap and warm water.

Tip No. 2: Dry your toothbrush when you are done brushing your smile, especially if you have a toothbrush cover. Make sure to let the bristles dry before you put the toothbrush cover over it because a moist environment promotes the growth of bacteria.

Tip No. 3: Don’t share your toothbrush with anyone—not even your family members. Sharing your toothbrush can be harmful to your smile because saliva can be transferred from one mouth to another. When this happens, cavity development can be encouraged. It’s also important to throw your toothbrush away after you have recovered from a sickness.
